  • Right after the Brazilian Supreme Court justice ordered a nationwide ban on Elon Musk‘s X, another social media platform saw a rise in its popularity.

    Founded by Jack Dorsey in 2019, Bluesky becomes top app in Brazil amidst X ban. It all began when the Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes accused X of misleading its users with false information.

    In between, Bluesky, X’s smaller rival, gained millions of new users within a week after X was banned in Brazil on August 30, 2024. Bluesky is a decentralized social app with features and functions identical to Twitter (now X).
