Euan Blair Multiverse, a U.K.-based unicorn, has bought Searchlight to expand its services. Blair’s company is known for developing apprenticeship programs that combine education, work, and technology.

After acquiring Searchlight, an ethical AI start-up, Euan announced that his company Multiverse aims to transform organizations through AI. But will the ed-tech companies be able to foster from the acquisition?

What Is Multiverse and Searchlight?

Multiverse initially gained traction by emphasizing apprenticeships as a feasible option for persons wishing to create careers in fast-paced sectors such as technology.

However, the company has subsequently evolved to include professional training for those already employed.

Similarly, Searchlight is a startup that develops AI-based recruitment and assessment products. It was co-founded by twin sisters Kerry Wang and Anna Wang.

Recently, Multiverse acquired Searchlight. The objective is to employ Searchlight’s technology to develop new AI products for Multiverse, allowing it to extend its professional training offerings.

Multiverse was last valued at $1.7 billion in 2022 and has been fundraising for several years, receiving hundreds of millions of dollars from investing companies such as General Catalyst and Lightspeed.

This is the company’s second purchase, acquiring another YC company, Eduflow, last year.

What Will Happen to the Wang Sisters?

Before Euan Blair Multiverse bought Searchlight, Kerry and Anna were the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Technology Officer, respectively.

However, after the acquisition, the sisters’ roles have changed significantly. While Kerry will be the director of products at Multiverse, Anna will take on the role of head of AI.
