  • TikTok filed a lawsuit aiming to block a U.S. law that would ban the video app unless it is sold by ByteDance, its Chinese parent company.

The ex-Dodgers boss Frank McCourt plans to buy TikTok, but has TikTok indicated itself as a sale? Let’s find the latest news with us.

While BytDance rejects TikTok sales to the US, the creators’ studio is coming to IGN Live in June 2024.

  • Frank McCourt Plans To Buy TikTok

Frank McCourt plans to buy TikTok U.S. business. However, the millionaire is assembling a consortium to purchase the short video-making platform.

McCourt, the founder of Project Liberty (an impact initiative organization), hopes investors will join him in acquiring TikTok’s US business.

In the meantime, Project Liberty’s TikTok bid includes law firm Kirkland & Ellis, global investment firm Guggenheim Securities, several world-renowned technologists, academics, community leaders, engaged citizens, and parents.

Short Video Platform To New Digital Open Source Protocol

Joe Biden signed a law in April that required ByteDance to sell its platform or face a ban in the United States. The company has time until January to find a buyer. However, company officials say there are no plans to sell.

  • If McCourt’s bid proved successful and if the company were to change its tune, the business magnate says that the goal would be to migrate TikTok to a new digital open-source protocol.

McCourt says that the project liberty would bring community partners and digital experts to enhance and preserve the TikTok experience by giving more control and access to their data, including how it’s used.

Group Of TikTok Creators Filed A Separate Lawsuit

Challenging the potential ban, eight TikTok creators filed a separate lawsuit. They call the law an extraordinary restraint on speech that violated the First Amendment.

  • Several TikTok creators claim they could lose the money they earned through TikTok by promoting their small businesses or TikTok’s Creator Fund.

However, it is yet to be decided if the video-making platform is searching for a new buyer.
