Overwatch 2 Officially Bringing Back 6v6: Might Go Back To The Old Format

To all the Overwatch players who loved the classic 6v6 matchup, there is exciting news.

According to recent reports, Blizzard has finally announced “Overwatch 2 Officially Bringing Back 6v6.”

After years of fans begging the studio for this format and living in nostalgia for the original Overwatch, fans will finally have their wishes come true.

The change in the 5v5 format is not welcomed by anyone, and fans have mixed reactions.

The old gamers love that the 6v6 is coming back, which will make the gameplay faster and will also require more complex team coordination.

However, new players do not particularly love the 6v6 format, probably because it is completely new to them, and it will definitely take some time for them to adjust.

But whatever the case, Blizzard is listening to its fans, and it will surely find a way to allow 6v6 to coexist with the current 5v5 mode.

Other Changes

While the exact release date of the 6v6 has been public and is still under development, Blizzard has confirmed they will announce it once speculation and fan feedback are over.

Since 6v6 mode will change the balance in the game and might raise issues in queue time, the update will take some time.

Directors of the game also confirmed this by stating;

“With that said, we’re considering running a series of events to try out different core team composition formats in Overwatch 2. The community has, just once or twice, suggested a test. Why not put various forms of 6v6 in the game to gauge the results? We agree, and based on your feedback, we’re exploring how to test different forms of 6v6 in the game to gauge the results.”

The 6v6 mode will not happen immediately and will take several seasons.

New Update and Patchnotes

Overall, it will be a treat for all the fans. We will probably get new patch notes, a wider hero pool, and some reworks in the game.

With two tanks, the gameplay will be thrilling, and there will be new strategies and metals. Hopefully, we will also get some content, like new skins, as a bonus!
