  • An automobile lover in China had to go through a series of hectic events when his brand-new item didn’t meet his expectations.

As his Xiaomi new SU7 breaks after 24 miles, Mr.Wen is looking for a brand new replacement.

But you would be surprised to know what the Chinese smartphone giant said to the owner. The SU7 sedan is Xiaomi’s first official electric vehicle, and it was launched on March 28, 2024.

After a month of waiting, Mr. Wen, who is one of Xiaomi SU7’s early purchasers, collected his brand-new electric sedan from a Xiaomi delivery center in Fujian province.

The following day, he drove the car along a highway, and that’s when the EV broke down, forcing the owner to pull over. Although the owner’s bright blue SU7 looked stunning, the car seemed to be just about looks, unlike the efficient Chinese BYD vehicles.

While driving the car, the digital instrument showed a warning message to Mr.Wen that the car was about to stop. Likewise, the message instructed the owner to contact the online service center.

The second unfortunate event occurred when the car could not shift gears between drive and reverse. You might agree that such a nuisance is critical for the driver’s safety issues.

  • Xiaomi is known for its innovative products such as the Xiaomi Pad 6s Pro, UW gaming monitor, and Poco C61. However, their electric cars have reportedly been in trouble since the start.

    Will Mr.Wen get another SU7?

After his car had fully broken down, Mr.Wen, who was left alone on the side of the road, called a tow truck to return the car to the delivery center.  However, the dealer couldn’t identify the issues that caused the brand-new electric sedan to stop working.

The dealer suggested that the car be returned to the factory for further analysis of the problem. Mr.Wen requested a new SU7 rather than a refund. However, Xiaomi’s customer service said that it was not possible due to new cars having allocated owners. Hence, a negotiated refund is in the talks.

The SU7 already has a ton of fans and attention in China, and Xiaomi has reportedly produced over 10000 units. This incident has cast a shadow on the rollout of the Xiaomi SU7, and with this image, it will be hard to promote the car.
